The Joy of Renting

Vehicle booking is exclusively online at www.bmw-rent.de. After registration, you start the booking request and then receive a binding reservation confirmation, provided we have the desired model available during the requested period. For this you need your driver's license, your credit card and your ID card or passport (if presenting a passport, an additional proof of address is required).

You can request and reserve a vehicle up to six weeks in advance.

With BMW Rent and MINI Rent, it is possible to rent a vehicle from the age of 18 and from the first day of holding a driver's license. Check our reservation page or our terms and conditions to see what age and driver's license requirements are required for each vehicle group.

If you want to enter another European country with your rental car, you can do so in compliance with our entry regulations. Entry to Andorra, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Gibraltar, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain (without African exclaves) and Vatican City is permitted without restrictions for all vehicle classes.

Entry to Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia is only permitted with BMW 1 Series, BMW 2 Series and MINI models. BMW M Performance vehicles of the respective series are excluded from this.

Entry to all countries not listed here is generally prohibited for all vehicle classes. Insurance coverage and the contractually agreed liability reduction expire for trips to non-approved countries.

Our vehicles may be driven by persons other than the renter. However, this requires the registration of additional drivers in the rental agreement. Additional drivers must be personally present at one of our BMW Rent and MINI Rent stations when picking up the vehicle or at a later time, but before the vehicle is first moved by the driver, and present their driver's license and ID in original. The same age requirements as for the renter apply to additional drivers.

As payment methods, we accept standard bank credit cards from Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Cash, EC cards, prepaid credit cards and debit cards are excluded. Please note that the credit card must be issued in the name of the renter.

When picking up your rental vehicle, you need the following documents issued to you:

• the credit card you have already deposited online in original
• your ID card or passport (plus proof of address when presenting a passport)
• your driver's license

Please note that the renter must also be the payer in any case.

If you use the special rates for automotive industry employees, we also need your employee ID when picking up to verify your affiliation with an automotive group.

Our vehicles are always equipped with winter-suitable tires. Please inform yourself independently before entering other countries about local regulations.

All BMW Rent and MINI Rent vehicles are insured with statutory liability insurance. No additional fees are charged for this, as these are already included in the rental price. For damage to our vehicles, you have the option of concluding contractual liability exemption in the sense of reduced deductible in case of damage by booking protection packages.

In the event of an accident, the welfare of those involved and securing the accident site are the priority. Therefore, it is important to inform the police and, if necessary, the emergency service, as every accident, including minor damage, must be recorded by the police. An admission of guilt must never be given, as this endangers insurance coverage, among other things. In any case, the name of the opponent or vehicle owner, the license plate of the vehicle involved and the police file number must be noted.
